I love Pinterest. Every time I’ve written a story, I’ve created a secret Pinterest board with all of my ideas for that story. And after I release that book, I make my Pinterest board visible to the world. My newest book, A Bride for Brynmor, released last week — so it’s time to reveal its Pinterest board 🎉
Here are a few of my board’s sections with a link following that will take you to the entire board…
TRAINS & WATER STOPS
Many scenes in A Bride for Brynmor take place on a train or at a tiny train stop (or junction) which will only continue to be a stop if it continues to have a functioning water tower…which is a tricky thing in winter when water freezes. And did I mention my story is set in January in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains?
MUSIC: the HURDY-GURDY
My heroine, Lark, is a singer/musician whose favorite instrument is the hurdy-gurdy (a stringed instrument that produces sound by a hand crank-turned wheel rubbing against the strings). What does that sound like and look like?
KNITTING, WOOL & SHEEP
My hero, Brynmor Llewellyn, runs a freight business with his brothers and sister, Robyn, who married a man known for knitting in Robyn: A Christmas Bride. A pair of lambs join Brynmor and Lark on their quest to find Lark’s sisters. The lambs are sometimes fun and other times trouble, but they are always cute.
SERIES NAME INSPIRATION: PETTICOAT JUNCTION
When I decided to give my Llewellyn Brothers Western historical romance series a train junction setting, I immediately thought of the 1960s TV series Petticoat Junction. Its setting and time period don’t match my series…but when Lark told me that she and her sisters were traveling singers in search of a home, I started calling them songbirds. And Songbird Junction sounded like a mighty fine place to turn into a home.
